PHYSICS DRILL IV

In this week's Drill, we focus on Work, Energy, and power. We test basic concepts only. We encourage you to learn the fundamental difference between these concepts and to see the beautiful thread that  joins them together, Good Luck

Is He Doing Work?

1.       One newton multiplied by one meter equals? (a) one meter (b) one watt (c) one ampere (d) one joule (e) one kilogramme.

2.       The area under a force-distance graph represents? (a) Momentum (b) power (c) work (d) velocity (e) acceleration.

3.       Calculate the work done in raising 800kg of iron ore to surface from a depth of 60m? (Take g =10m/s-2 ). (a)5.8x105 J  (b) 5.6 X105 J  (c)4.8 X105 J  (d) 7.5X105 J (e) 0.5X105 J

4.       The equilibrium position of objects in any field corresponds to a situation of? (a) maximum kinetic energy (b) maximum potential energy (c)equipotential energy (d) minimum potential energy (e) none of the above.

5.       When a photon collides with a free electron, what happens? (a) Both energy and momentum is conserved (b) both energy and momentum is lost (c) energy is lost momentum is conserved (d) energy is conserved momentum is lost (e) nothing happens.

6.       An object of mass 50kg is released from a height of 2m. Find the kinetic energy just before it strikes the ground? (a) 250J (b) 10000J (c) 1000J (d) 10J (e) 380J.

7.       A force of 6N acts horizontally on a stationary mass of 2kg for 4sec. what is the kinetic energy gained by the mass? (a) 144J (b) 28J (c) 14J (d) 72J (e) 9J.

8.       If a 560 horsepower generator is purchased for a community, what is the rating in KVA?

9.       Two objects, one having 3times the mass of the others, are dropped at the same time from a tall building. When they are above the ground, the two object will have same? (a) Potential energy (b) acceleration (c) kinetic energy (d) momentum (e) none of the above.

10.   The kinetic energy of a ball of mass 10kg which falls freely from rest for 3seconds is?     (g =10m/s-2 )   (a) 2500J (b) 9000J (c) 870J (d) 4500J (e) 100J.

  1. That guy der is not doing any work..because he is obviously not covering any distance squatting..although he is in pain.
but the work done is simply zero..Tnks
