3 Ways Sleep Can Help You As A Student

As a student, sleeping is something we will rather not be caught doing. Sleeping portrays you as weak, unserious, and downright lazy. However, modern research points to the contrary. Here we highlight 3 major benefits of sleep to a student:

1.    It  Gives Your Memory a Boost : the hustle and bustle of a student’s life leaves no much room for the brain to form long term memories. Now, when we sleep, our brain doesn’t instead it uses this down time to organize and file away important information’s acquired during the day.So, just after reading, the best thing to do is to take a short nap, so as to allow your brain solidify the information

2.        Clears Your Mind:  have you ever observed how fresh you are mentally after a short nap or a good night rest? This is because during sleep, hormones that aid relaxation are released into the body. Now combine this with the fact that the brain uses this time to clear out mental clutter and the result is a clear head.  So why not read that difficult subject immediately after waking up from sleep?

3.       Increases Attention Span: Your attention span talks about the period of time you can wholly give to a given task or assignment at hand. As a student your attention span is a ‘muscle’ you have to train, and sleeping is a good way to achieve this. That is why lecture co-ordinators normally schedule demanding subjects like mathematics between the hours of 8 and 11am. As a student you can take advantage of this immense benefit of sleep, by also scheduling your reading to fall within 30 mins of waking up, and see wonders.
