EDO STATE GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION HAS BEEN POSTPONED

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has postponed the 2016/2017 Edo State Gubernatorial Election by two weeks. This decision was deliberated earlier on in a Security Meeting held in Benin, the capital city of  Edo state.

This decision was reached as a result of the problem of Insecurity. The Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu will be addressing members of the media shortly.

This decision will in no doubt be as a result of security threats anticipated earlier by the Department of State Security [DSS] and the Nigerian Police Force [NPF]. According to a statement by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Don. Awunah, that: “Edo state is one of the states earmarked for planned attacks by extremists and insurgents".

However, we do not know if this will, in any way, affect the already rescheduled West African Examination Council/General Certificate Examination [WAEC/GCE] scheduled to hold on Saturday, 10th September 2016.
